Jackie stood outside the Laboratory, hands on her hips, gazing at the door. "Well, this is going to be interesting." She thought to herself, her ears pricked forward and her tail waving slowly back and forth. The Arcanine Morph had thought for a long time about which Pokemon she wanted, and now she knew.

After another couple of seconds Jackie took a deep breath and walked to the door and knocked.

A scruffy-looking man, in a ketchup-and-mayonnaise-stained lab coat and shabby glasses opened the door. He looked half asleep, one eye shut completely, whilst the other one struggled to open. "H-Helloooo," he said in a drunken manner. "Ahh, are you here fer yo-", he was then caught by somebody from behind, pulling him back inside, and shutting the door before the girl. Muffled voices could be heard from the other side.
"Bob, I told you that you were supposed to stay up-stairs!," one man shouted, to which he was replied. "I'm s-orry," the other man hicupped, as he could be heard walking back up-stairs. After a few moments, the door to the Lab opened again, to reveal another man, this one wearing a clean lab coat, with short hair and neatly-trimmed beard.
"Hello. I apologize for my brother, Bob," he said. "My name is Tim, and I'm an aide here. The Professor is currently out, doing field-work, but perhaps I could help you?," he asked politely, opening the door wider and inviting the girl inside.

Jackie's ears twitched, hearing muffled sounds from behind the door before it opened. A scruffy looking man stood there, his lab coat stained with Arceus-knows-what. This couldn't be the Professor, he was too... unprofessional.

"Um... hi... I'm here for my Pokemon." Jackie began, then flicked her tail in annoyance as the man was suddenly yanked inside. Obviously someone didn't want him greeting Trainers. "Bob, I told you that you were supposed to stay up-stairs!" Someone shouted, and Jackie didn't need her enhanced hearing to hear it. But then it went quiet and the girl had to strain her ears to hear what was going on. The second man was directing the first to go back upstairs.

Finally, the door opened again.

"Hi," Jackie began with a small frown, listening to his apology though, she brightened a little. "Sure, thanks. I'm here for my first Pokemon." She paused, then deciding she wanted to get out of here quickly she added, "I'd like a Torchic, please."

Tim smiled, as he closed the door behind the girl and turned the lights on.
"Ah, yes," he started. "Torchic. My personal favourite, to be honest with you," he winked at her. He then turned around, and walked away from the girl, disappearing behind one of the many doors inside the Lab. After a few seconds, he came back out, holding a Pokéball in one hand, and a rather heavy-looking bag in the other. He handed the Pokéball to Jackie, whilst putting the bag on the table in front of her.
"That'd be your starter pack," he said, pointing at the red bag. "And that-," he motioned towards the Pokeball. "-is your Torchic!," he said, a warm, wide smile across his face.

Jackie nodded, not really caring much about what the assistant said, he probably said it to all the new Trainers. As he disappeared she glanced around the laboratory, it was a pretty nice place, though a little smaller than she had expected.

"That'd be your starter pack," If Jackie hadn't picked up the sound of feet approaching first, she would have jumped. Instead she turned calmly towards Tim and nodded, reaching forward and taking the bag and the Torchic.

"Thanks for your help," She said, giving him a smile, and with a flick of her tail she pulled open the door and left the lab.

Tim smiled warmly, making sure that the girl is not missing anything, after which he showed her to the exit.
"Well, I hope your adventure isn't as futile as mine once was," he said, with a grin on his face. He then shut the door gently behind her, leaving Jackie to her own journey. After a few moments had passed, Tim could be heard shouting,
"Bob! We need to talk!".
